Undergraduate & Masters Placements

Each year EWL has a limited number of placements for undergraduate students who are studying for, or have just completed, the written/examined part of Bachelor’s or Master’s Degrees within the UK and Europe. Students are typically studying nutrition, anthropology, epidemiology, biology, biochemistry, chemistry or medicine although there is no formal requirement for the student’s subject of scientific study except that it needs to be relevant to their research Group at EWL. Students will only be considered for placement at EWL if they fulfill all the following criteria:

  • Are undertaking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or their equivalent
  • Have a placement period of 4 – 12 months length (please note: placements shorter than 4 months will not be considered)
  • Have their own funding for accommodation and living expenses in Cambridge
  • Have identified a specific topic of study with a research Group at EWL

In the case of the above criteria being fulfilled, students should approach Human Resources at EWL with their C.V. and a short covering note that identifies the placement period sought (i.e. dates), the specific topic of interest at EWL for their placement and confirming they have funding for living expenses.

We aim to respond rapidly, but please allow up to 2 weeks during busy periods. Please note that places are limited and consideration of applications in no way guarantees a placement.

Please note: EWL are not accepting applications from the Amgen Scholars Programme this year.
