Study of the effects of fruit and vegetable extracts on blood vessels
We are currently recruiting volunteers for a nutrition study looking at the effects of fruit and vegetable extracts on vascular function.
This study will investigate the effects of fruit and vegetables extracts on the health of your blood vessels over a 12 week period. Participants are split into two groups; one takes a placebo and the other the active treatment (fruit and vegetable extracts). To participate you will be required to take 3 capsules (either placebo or supplements) a day for 12 weeks. Advanced measurement techniques will be used for a range of measurements i.e. electrocardiography (ECG) and ultrasound scanning which is able to give very detailed images and measurements of the blood vessels related to the heart. You will also be given ‘5-A-Day’ dietary advice as well as written nutrition education material. If you are:
- Aged 25-65 years
- BMI 25-35 kg/m²
- No history of cardiovascular disease
We would like to invite you to attend MRC Elsie Widdowson Laboratory in Cambridge to take part in the study. You will be asked to attend the unit on four occasions (approximately once a month for 4 months). In recognition of your time commitment, you will receive an honorarium of a £300 on completion of the study. Reasonable travel expenses will also be reimbursed.
